Dr. Stanley Rogers Named Interim Chief of the Division of General Surgery Succeeding Dr. Hobart Harris
Dr. Harris has received regional and national recognition for his clinical expertise, as evidenced by his leadership roles and reputation in the clinical field of surgery. Nationally, he has a robust history of serving on scientific review committees for the National Institutes of Health and the Shriners Hospital for Children. Dr. Harris also has served on several diversity committees for the School of Medicine and as Chair for the Equal Opportunity Committee from 2008 to 2010. Over the years, Dr. Harris has been consistently rated as an excellent teacher by residents, fellows, and medical students. In 2019, he was a recipient of the prestigious Gold-Headed Cane Faculty Award. He stands as an excellent role model as a clinician, educator, and research scientist.
The sections of Breast, Colorectal, Endocrine, and Hepatobiliary Surgery will become part of the new Division of Surgical Oncology.
Please join us in thanking Dr. Harris for all his wonderful contributions to the Department of Surgery, in his role as Chief of the Division of General Surgery and welcoming Dr. Rogers as Interim Chief. We will look to celebrate Dr Harris’ contributions to the Division and the Department at a later note when we have the opportunity to gather in person as a surgical community.
